Run a market stall for one Saturday

"What if you sold something you made to actual strangers?"

Why this is so fun

There is nothing quite like the moment a complete stranger picks up something you made, looks at it properly, and hands over actual euro for it. It is terrifying and brilliant in equal measure. You learn more about your product in one Saturday on a wind-battered market square in Westmeath than in months of overthinking at home. You find out what draws people in, what puts them off, and — most usefully — that you are well capable of backing yourself in public.

Someone who did this

Ruairí (22), Nenagh — works part-time in a hardware shop, makes hot sauces from a polytunnel in his da's garden

I did Nenagh Farmer's Market on a Saturday in October with twelve bottles of chilli sauce and a borrowed fold-out table that kept threatening to collapse sideways.
