Try hurling as an adult beginner

"What if you picked up the fastest field sport in the world at 25?"

Why this is so fun

There is nothing quite like the moment the sliotar connects cleanly with the bas for the first time — a sharp crack that you feel right up your arms. Hurling demands total focus, so every session is a complete escape from whatever is going on in your head. You will be hopeless at first, and that is half the fun. Adult beginners are far more common than you think, and GAA clubs are genuinely welcoming places. You will leave with aching forearms, a ridiculous grin, and a whole new respect for anyone who has ever played at Croke Park.

Someone who did this

Clodagh (27), Dublin — junior account manager, does Pilates twice a week and considers that her entire personality

I found the session through the Dublin County Board website on a Tuesday night when I was avoiding emails, and I showed up to Ballyboden St Enda's the following Saturday with absolutely no idea what I was walking into.
