"What if you rode a hundred kilometres in one go before the summer ends?"
There is a particular kind of quiet madness that hits around kilometre seventy, somewhere between a Wicklow climb and a flat Kildare road, when your legs are burning and you realise you are actually going to do this. A hundred kilometres stops being an abstract number and becomes something your body knows. You find out you are tougher than you thought, that pacing matters, that a banana at a feed station is the greatest thing you have ever tasted. The finish line feels genuinely earned in a way very few things do.
